I just pulled the trigger on a replacement, upgrade for my TL1000S. Remember, my tranny went out and broke case. It's happened to a couple 97s, early on. I bought a good used TL1000R motor. So, even more power. It's a fairly well documented swap. Higher compression , forged pistons, beefier clutch than the TLS. I'll convert it to cable clutch from my TLS as I hate hydraulic clutches.
Lol. Pulled the trigger. Google funny. On bikes hydro clutches are not necessary. It's extra complexity versus a cable. Originally hydro clutches were made to have more force. If you notice, nearly all Superbike have cable clutches now. Engineers have figured out how to get the best of both worlds with cables. A cable system weighs less, and and it's just simpler than hydro systems. The main reason I don't like hydro clutches is that they lack feel compared to cable versions. Many TLR owners swapped their hydro units to TLS cable clutches.
Pushed the HOT twins around a little in the garage today, lol!! New rear tire needed to look like the older front, so. Silly stuff... but I like the look.
Was 61* this morning so the perfect morning to take my first ride in to work. I have a 45 minute ride and when I got there at 5:28 , the horizon was just starting to brighten.
So I am back down to 2 bikes now. Sold the Valkyrie Interstate after a chance find at a local dealer who had this on consigment. Have a taken a couple of nice rides on it. Here's a couple pics taken on a 183 mile day up to Bristol NH for lunch at the Bristol Diner.
Not 2 wheels, but headed to Michigan tomorrow for Backwoods Savage GTG!! I have one to haul logs and another to have fun afterwards. His neighbor has a nice 400ex and we talked a lot last year! Can't wait to get to his place tomorrow! For those that don't know or haven't seen it. He is having a GTG in Chesaning Michigan.
Hmmmm. Bikes? Ya we have those as well. And use them. Good times. Group of us has 250 DS machines that we travel on. Actually do a week or longer outing each summer as well. Mine is a Kaw. Super Sherpa. Others are a Honda CRFL and a Kaw KLX. 250's are gutless but capable. My SS closes in on 100mpg's on a regular basis which is nice. .
I liked the Michelin pilot powers, and power 2s in used to run on my TLS. Great tires. Have you used Michelin's before? And take the sticker off
Started with pilot road, then pilot road 2, pilot road 3, and now I'm on my 4th set of pilot road 4's.......... Sticker is gone
Took a friend to the Harley dealer to pick up her new trike - a leftover 2016 Freewheeler that had 20 miles on it from demo rides. She had a Sporty and traded it in. She had never been on a trike before and was a bit nervous, but the smile on her face as she started going said it all!
Been racking some miles on the r1200c. Wind buffeting isn't bothering me at all like it had last summer, the bike is solid, gonna' keep the windscreen. Need some cargo space, looking for soft bags and a way to keep 'em out of the tire. Ride safe out there.
I went in about an hour early today to do my annual fluids flush. The rear caliper bleed screw is the lowest point in the system, so I remove and elevate it to do the flush. It is what it is. The more time I spend on this bestie, the more I love it.
Plenty of room at the Bristol Diner. other places parking gets tighter. As you can see I parked the Valky close to the end of a parking space to give room for the next one or two.. The Ultra parked next to mine is a female owned bike and she is brand new to it. (not riding, just the bike) So I guess she spread out a bit. She even mentioned it, but no one thought it a big deal.
