There is nothing slower than a pack of French Canadian Harley riders, and they always ride in a pack...ooooh but they look good! The only time I've made it to the Dragon, it was closed because of a giant rock slide.
Not so! There are a bunch of pull-offs all over the place. Cages and slower riders typically pull over for ya if you're fillin' up their rear view mirrors. I didn't have any problems with that issue. Yep, and shortened so they bark a little more.
Well at least they used the pull offs for you. I've seen far too many videos at the gap where slowbies don't get over. There's many roads around here that are very twisty, not to the extent of the gap of course, but there's no pull offs, and you always find slowpokes.
Try a higher wattage high beam, if a few flashes doesn't get their attention, just leave it on high and line yourself up with their side mirror.
My KLX250S needed company. Don't worry, I will move over for the speed demons. I try to stay within 10mph of the legal limit. The wife is extremely comfortable and happy with the new ride. The purchase was heavily influenced by her.
Interesting year for me this year. I did a major upgrade on the 07 Electraglide this past February. I trailered it out to Little Chute Wisconsin and had Fuel Moto USA install one of their high performance 107" kits. Took 3 days but they did a great job, took an extra day because when it first got there they put it on the dyno and found that the fuel supply was unable to deliver more fuel past 3500rpm at WOT. So it took a day to source a new fuel pump and regulator. This kit included a new throttle body and injectors, new cylinders and 10.5:1 pistons, new CNC ported and polished heads with all hi-po springs, new pushrods, new 2into1 exhaust system, Dynojst Powervision I already had. 113hp and 120ft/lbs. It isd a monster, but is still prefectly capable of my standard old fart touring days. Bike ran great all season and I just put new rubber front and rear to not have to deal with that in the Spring. Still I'll ride till the snow flys. Then, last June, I made the mistake of letting my brother-in-law, ride my Valkyrie. This bike was my pride and joy, that I had bought new in 2001 and put 103K miles on. He went down at fairly low speed, just inexperience, it was totaled. Really sucked. But the insurance company gave me remarkable money to replacement cost. I found a adequate replacement out in St Paul Minnisota, so I too the trailer and went out and got it. I've been getting a few warts out of it, and am pretty much done and it's running well and has new rubber front and rear too. This one is the Interstate model, which is/was Honda's full dresser of the Valkyrie when they made them. They stopped making them in 03. They are great bikes. Here's a couple pics. The Valkyrie that got totaled. The ElectraGlide that I upgraded. The replacement Valkyrie Another one. It's been a slow riding season for me. Besides all the hubbub around the totaled bike, I also had meniscusknee surgery in July, and then this new reatining wall in the background of the Valkyrie pic replaced my old field stone wall. Here's a pic of that below. I did maybe 10K miles so far this year. Planning a Jackman Maine to New Bruswick and back down through New Hamshire ride for Columbus day weekend. One more.
Bikes look so perty don't know how you'd wanna ever git em dirty riding! Nice job on all of the retaining wall. Looks great...
Sorry to hear about the bike Steve, bet your brother felt bad, hope he was OK. My brother did the same thing with my BMW back in 94 when it was about 3 months old, not totaled though it was close, I still give him hell about that every time I see him.
Yeah... it was my fault, I shouldn't have offered it to him. He just didn't have the saddletime to handle a bike like that. He got a little nervous and had target fixation. Just rode it off the road, into a fairly soft landing. He broke a couple ribs. But the way insurance works and the cost of replacement bike tins and parts.. $1895 for a replacement gas tank. $900 for a front fender. ..it ads up fast. I was amazed that the insurance company treated me right. I'm glad I kept collision on it. Given it was 15 years old I didn't think they'ld give me $8K but they did. The speedo had been around once and said 3200 on it, but I didn't tell them that. My bad.
My previous ride, a black pearl 2006 SG, bought it in late December 2010 and traded in a little over a year ago My current ride, 2011 SG103 in merlot sunglow. Yeah, I'm one of the slower riders (speed limit up to 10 over), that is why I have a rolling couch and not a rocket. Pull off / over when I can for those who want to go faster.
bogieb, how do you like the windshield on your 2011? I tried a Harley windsplitter demo but wasn't impressed.
New to the site. But thought I would toss out a picture of my bike. It is a 72 cb750 motor. Not much else on it that is stock. I kinda have a love / hate relationship with it. Pushed it more times than I care to admit.
Welcome Rafmt I remember when most of us had bikes that looked like that. Hopefully there's more riding than pushing in your future!
