I picked up this 1970s minibike chassis about 3 weeks ago for my 13 year old. My son sanded the frame and I primed/painted it. He was adamant on a 212cc predator motor for it so we picked one up from Harbor Freight to the tune of $150. The clutch, chain and sprockets came from eBay for about $75. Tires are from HF, although I was able to salvage the 2 piece rear rim and weld the new sprocket onto that. New wheel bearings for $15, and the lights, stand alone battery and switch were another $50 or so. I have a Mikuni style carburetor and intake adapter on the way, but he can run the stock carb for now with the rigged twist throttle. I’ll be cannibalizing his 4 wheeler for the disc brake setup soon. The crude homemade seat cost me about $10 in materials. I still have to tidy up the wiring into a loom and do some odds and ends, but it’s mostly there.

Thanks. I figured if he’s going to be cruising the side roads illegally after dark when I’m not around, he should probably be visible to others
