After postponements, dear brother and nephew came over today and we finally got the gas line on the back of the house re-routed. Much cleaner looking too. Didn't think to take pics, and now it's dark, so I'll do that tomorrow. No leaks. One of the old lines must have developed a leak as I could smell gas every time I went out back, so that's no longer an issue either. To me, this is plumbing, and I highly dislike plumbing. I sort of knew what needed doing, but he just sees it like some kind of Yoda or something. He's got the touch or he is touched.......maybe both. Relit the water heater and wall furnace so we're back in bizzniss.
Well, obviously no pic of the gas line. I'll try tomorrow. In other news, the contractor called a bit ago and said they'd be here at 8 AM tomorrow. Materials (windows, siding, etc) still aren't here, so he's either got that scheduled or they plan to do some other stuff first. Matters not to me, as long as they're getting started.
He told us a while back that as long as it's above zero, he'll work outside. I told him he's crazy. He'll be here. Lives about 4 miles north of us. Doing the windows, at some point they'll need a guy inside. Supposed to hit 10 tomorrow, so with that kind of heat wave.......................
So, the crew showed up about 8:30, and got right to work pulling off the siding I didn't do. Looks like they're prepping everything so that once the materials show up, they can put stuff back together. Cool.....the windows just got here.
First window in, but I'm not sure why it takes 4 guys to install it. They're doing the bedroom first.....which is what I was hoping for, as those windows are the worst for leakage. Gets a bit chilly back there.
Make sure they leave plenty of expansion rooney if vinyl siding.. Also check it carefully, everytime I touch in these Temps I break nailing flange with hammer, it is pretty brittle.
