Called the guy this morning and got a promise someone would be here today. I'm going over to SisIL's tomorrow to let in the contractor who's doing her windows while she's at work. I'll be checking his work, and talking to him about our house. Saga continues......stay tuned.

The guy doing the work on SisIL's place is .....um.......just not very gooder. Not gonna' even have him come over. Called 3 guys today (and the original guy...still no call back from him), one came over and got the estimate done within a couple hours and called me back with it. He sells/installs WeatherKing windows. Never heard of them, but made by the same parent company that makes the PVC siding we WERE looking at. Vinyl similar to Jeld-Wen, but don't look quite the same. Good quote, but he's gotta' be 80 yrs. old if he's a day. Have someone coming from Lowes in 2 weeks. They have Jeld-Wen 20% off. Process ongoing, at a standstill. SHDD
Must be a brother to the guy I ordered a small load of wood from. It was supposed to show up two Fridays ago...."Oh no, I told you next week Friday" Well, that Friday came and went with no answers to either phone numbers also. 99 ripped up the check last night!
Well, well, well, guy called and he and his contractor actually showed up a bit ago. Siding guy was pretty quiet. We'll see how long it takes for the quote..............
Do you even want the quote? After all the delays and no phone calls do you really want him working on your house. I'd rather take my chances with the old guy he might even have a crew and he just supervises
Old guy has one helper. He seemed pretty spry for being older than Methuselah. I'll take the quote and go from there. I at first thought the same way, but I have a feeling this Amish guy was making promises his contractor couldn't keep. All this was going through the Amish guy.
Maybe I've been doing it wrong, but the old guy leaves 1/8" gap all around the windows so he can caulk inside and out. I've seen caulk separate from surfaces, so not liking his install method.
? Ya, small jobs are hard, even though its not big a legit contractor still has overhead, liability/workmans comp insurance payments, car payments, some have an office with rent payments. I have first hand knowledge that it's $126/hr COST to send ONE legit contractor out for repairs.
