    Your right, that is tough scouting. Do you go a few days in head of season to scout so your ready opening morning?

    Way more variety of trees in “the county”. Here we have white and black spruce, white birch and popal. Around me white spruce is 90-95% and white birch 4-7% the others make up the rest.

    Small world! I’ve lived in several of the towns around the county over the years and I miss it all except for the winters. It’s beautiful country. Never been to AK but I know a few that have. Someday maybe. Love the solitude!

    What’s nice about weather wise is hardly any wind and humidity. Sure makes winter tolerable. The biggest difference is the freedom from over bearing state, coy and county governments.

    Sometimes I do it depends a lot on whether I can get time off from work. I'm going to put in for tags with a couple friends next season and hopefully I can hunt an area just south of home. I'd sure go 350 miles if I could pull an Elk tag.
