Plus when the guys walk on the mesh and pull it up, it never ends up in the center of the slab. Chairs are the way to go.

Just found out a few years ago that the rebar is supposed to go more toward the bottom for the best strength. My guy said he trys to set it 1/3 of the way up...so if its a 6" slab, then he would put the wire or bar in at 2". Makes sense if you think about it...the weight from above is going to try to make a crack open up at the bottom

I haven’t had time to update this thread for a few days so I will make a few posts tonight.

Tuesday morning I got up early to open the new doors on the shed then headed in to the house to make breakfast when I heard the concrete pumping truck coming up the hill.

When I worked construction in Alaska, the sound of a concrete truck....
    was the sound of misery......

Did they let you ride on one of the power trowels?

I am the same way with build threads. I used to be able to do some. Always love the smell of construction. Same with wood cutting. Next in line is watching machines move earth around. Little kid still in me.

    :eek: :rofl: :lol::rofl: :lol:
    Thanks! That's it.

I think is was actually concrete work that
convinced me to go back to college.
Got a degree in computer electronics.
Loading software beats pouring concrete any day.

I sure loved the earth movers when I was a kid.....
    still do.
Stopped on my bike ride today to watch a bunch
of Euclid scrappers working at a new project.

I think this picture sums up how hard concreter’s work. It was cold and raining outside, and Paul had his shirt off. I could feel the heat coming off the concrete from where I was taking the pictures.

That's a lot of mud to lay out without a power screed.

Once the majority of the concrete was poured the pump truck was backed out.

And set up again to pour the last of the slab.

    Almost done pouring.
