Chaz & billb3 this picture may clear thing up, taken from the back corner.

There will be 8’3” of clearance under the mezzanine, plenty of room for cars, trailers and 4x4’s, the front door is 16’6” wide and as brenndatomu said the other door gives access for the loader to lift things up to the mezzanine without having to enter the building. Additionally the mezzanine door is on the east side that will be shaded in the afternoon so on a hot summer day my plan is that I will open the door half way and let the cooler air in under the mezzanine it should then flow in to the main body of the building then up and out the roof hatch above the mezz. I will find out if it works in a couple of months.

Well, after brenndatomu posted, it did make sense.

I guess I figured you wanted the doorway that tall for very large equipment.

I'm used to barns, which have a large lower door, and a small door to the loft (mezzanine) for hay storage.

You just used one very tall door for that purpose. I'm sure it makes a lot more sense in a metal building to do it that way.

Now on to really important matters..

    I give it 10 months.
    ;)

Can you imagine what it sounds like when he gets a hard rain on that roof. Any animals inside might just run for their lives.

I have a lean-to shed that I replaced a roll roofing roof with lathes and corrugated steel and maybe it's the the thickness of the steel but it's not noisy in a heavy rain like I thought it would be.

    Wood lathes??

Wood would absorb some of the vibrations and therefore help deaden the sound.

Metal on metal, without any rubber grommets or other such vibration absorbing material is very loud.
Used to work in a building that was built as an indoor tennis facility, when it rained you could barely hear the customers on the phone. And that building had some level of spray on insulation as well.

Yup, wood lathes. I'd have to go measure but I don't think I used 5/4.

That'll work. Do you have resindeck down there? Expensive but great stuff.

It’s been a couple of weeks since Russell finished erecting the shed so I was starting to wonder when the concreter’s would come, then Wednesday morning a truck arrived and dropped of the rebar / steel mesh, plastic sheeting and chairs.

Friday morning the concreter’s came at 7am and started boxing up the formwork.

Laying the plastic and rebar mesh.

    More to come.

    Amazing!

Are you going to abandon the container storage
for your wood and put it in there?

No it’s going to be my workshop, it will fill up quickly enough without putting wood in there. Plus the IBC tote storage really works well, I can’t fault it.
