Leaking pipe... emergency?

    Ummm yeah, that's a definite no no, mixing pipe types like that.

    My dad used to use that" Hartford Loop" term all the time, he even used to work for "Hartford Steam Boiler Co. ".

    That said, here's a real Hartford Loop

    Ok, what should I be looking for? The steam boiler is pretty old. I don't have air ducts in the house so other than steam or electric, I don't know how I would heat the place.
    Are you suggesting to replace the heating element, the pipes, or both?

    Also, this is getting into territory were i would probably call a professional.

    We actually have a home warranty that came with the house when we bought it. I am not sure if the pipes are covered but I think the steam boiler appliance is. I wouldn't exactly be upset if the whole thing exploded and we needed a replacement.

    Is it worth calling the home warranty company? We were going to cancel in October but maybe it's worth it if this thing is going to blow.
