I think it's a chore I'll save for winter. I don't do much out in the cold, unlike the rest of you.

I like shorter pieces, like 8 to 10 inches, they split easier and you really don't need 16 or 18 inch long kindling.
When I had carpentry cut-offs they were all different lengths any way.
Lately I've just been doing the busting up dried up pine branches as it is quick, easy albeit messy routine of having some kindling.

I like the "cheeseburger" style wax firestarters though.

That's what we typically make, but most companies only sell styrofoam cartons now. We made paper towel ones the other day. They work, but next time I think we'll just make the cheeseburger starters. Maybe we'll hide some gunpowder in the center of the and make " juicy Lucy" firestarters. Lol

If you are able to get pine cones, they work out as well. We had a bumper crop last year and had a whole year supply. This year we had very few.

Threads like this make me wish the stove did not hold red coals for 24 plus hours...

Buddy. Gave me a left over bundle of cedar shakes last year... Still got most left..

Yes, that is the only place left around here that sells eggs in cardboard containers.

Weird, all the local supermarkets store brand eggs come in paper cartons.

Yes, up here you don't see many Styrofoam egg cartons. They usually are paper cartons.

Usually the cage free ones come in plastic, most others are all paper with the exception of egglands best, which is styrofoam. And just about all of them come from the same place. I've been in large egg facilities coolers, and literally every type of egg I see in the store is all packaged up to be shipped in there.
