looks like 3/4" -1" I remember one year we didn't get snow for Halloween. Unfortunately this is "the norm" Hopefully it'll sublimate
Just getting ready to add that that would be our blizzard for the year - MILK SANDWICHES GALORE and then this guy from Standish came along
bogydave have you used your skidding hitch setup this year? Not sure if you get more rounds with the wagon or skidding them out.....
Was skidding at first. It got muddy forcing me to take the atv trailer. I't one more time handling the wood , but it hauls more than I can skid. Still use the skid/hitch gizmo, if the ground is to rough for the trailer. Skid logs to a staging area, then buck & load the atv trailer. After using the trailer, I like it better, easier on the atv & bucking the wood in the woods , it's cleaner & easier on chains. Seems faster too, but not sure why. Now my preferred method.
Dave, I'm like you when it comes to cutting. We usually start around December 1. One of the best parts is that we aren't slapping insects. And yes, temperatures in the 20's are super for cutting wood.
I was surprised how fast I started removing layers when the sun came up & I was cutting. Was 15° when I left the truck/trailer & I was bundled up riding the 4-wheeler. 30 minutes later, I was liming a tree, coat & the underneath layer had to go. Sun still has heat in it too, turned the top 1/4" of the road to greasy mud, That's when I started using the trailer.
That sure is some pretty wood cutting spot. I might just get more staring at the Mtns. & mind wondering done than wood cutting. Good for the soul for sure!
