Large cross cut sawing. I can't get the hang of it

    Welcome to the club I used to compete in the single buck at some shows what you are describing is probably the saw needs sharpened and more important it is probably out of set you need to have them sharpened and set for crosscutting it is a skill you can devlop but I would suggest you send it to a saw sharpener that is familiar with those types of saws EG Mercier racing saws the last time I had it done it was 20.00 a foot as to lube I used to use wd-40 it worked well good luck JB

    I used to go the the county fair and see logging shows where they had sawing contests; the rounds were dry so that helped. I think the wet wood saw dust causes binding very frustrating. I suspect the teeth need widening and the saw perhaps waxed? The saws were originally use to drop large red wood timbers and it was wet so I want to know what was done in those days.
