I run two Husky's for my two saw system. A 346XP and a 390XP. Both have had work done to them though. The 390XP behaves like it's just plain pizzed off at the wood. Makes me grin everytime I use it. I don't know how much balls you need, but I'm pretty sure a 390XP (or any 90cc class saw) would do the trick.
Yeppers ...10-15 tanks and everything will “seat in” then ...... modification can begin ... with a righteous muffler mod and a SHARP chain that saw will come alive ! If you REALLY want a ballsy 261c and aren’t afraid of some work ... split the muffler; enlarge stock opening and take out the baffle and reassemble ! It WILL be louder but man with a SHARP chain you should see cuts times of 30% or better ... next step deck cylinder and reduce the squish; I really wouldn’t even bother porting one the way it comes alive with these modifications ... believe me I know - have done many of em ...
Sounds like a Great 2-saw plan to me ! The 346xp is one of if not the finest saws in its class ... the 390xp is a beast ... I’ve run a ported 390xp vs a ported 395xp in 20” wood and it’s Very close ... now you put 36” bars on both and the 395xp will walk it all day !
Probably right if you wait until their completely worn out.I hear there's 462 in the making.Probably a 262 before too much longer.
The MS 170 is a great little saw if used for it's intended purpose! Sure Guy's, it's not going to keep up with the big boy's but I have one in my truck when I take a tree down for limbing. It's perfect for that!!! Do you expect to limb with a MS-440 magnum? Don't hate on the MS 170, it has a purpose in life...
Yeah I mean the 211 is the same way, good for it's intended purpose...Although I definitely went above and beyond it's intended purpose.
I am interested in having this kind of work done to a new 261c Pictures of you doing this work ? How are you cutting these bases ? How do you cut squish ? Do you cut the base so it stays thick, are you using a gasket after you cut the base ?
I was refering to the guy's beating up on the cute little 170... Yeah!!! You put your's past the point Woody! I did the same thing with an old 021 Years back i bought new in 1988, and it still runs!
Nothing against the ms170 or any other saw. I just thought it was funny after all the talk of bigger pro saws and such!
I love my 170 it is a great little saw. On the tv show Edge of Alaska, Jeremy was always using a 170. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
The 462 is available in Europe ... Hotsaws101 has a video comparison between the 461 and the 462 ; a tear-down , bench talk session comparing and contrasting the 2 is in the works ! Stay tuned !
Dont know if the CS 600p is still available but sounds like what you are looking for and was always happy with the performance of mine. It runs like a champ and is not to heavy but has some gonads if you get into to some decent size tree's to fell, buck and process. Have never had any problems what so ever with it and was able to get it for a mere $285 on CL when i bought mine brandy new. Not sure of the 590 but might do the trick as well. I have run many of saws when I was putting food on the table with them including Homelite (yes just aged myself) Sthil's, and Husky's and was very pleased with the Echo.
I keep scrolling past this thread and reading the subject as "Licking A Ballsy chainsaw" and double taking.
