I'm sorry I don't know more, my vet clinic was in the Humane Society and every morning from 7-11 am was back to back spays/neuters, like up to 20/morning!! Back then was to alter them as early as possible (for instance do not wait for first heat in a female), and any intact animal has much higher risk of cancers, female= uterine and mammary, male = testicular. There were many dogs with only one testicle dropped, it was not uncommon. Yes, they have to do an incision and go internally to get one or both of them. More invasive than going through the scrotum but still less invasive than a spay And dogs are put totally under for either unlike male cats that just get dumbing out drugs. Actually my Blackie dog I estimate was 6 or 9 months old when they dumped him and I found him, neither of his descended, I could tell by the suture marks. I think most drop 8-12 weeks, but, I've seen otherwise, and more commonly only one. It will eliminate a possible cancer for him regardless of how it's done Also, sorry, I have not heard at waiting a year or 2 before neutering a dog. I do know, the earlier the better. Keep in mind it was a humane society, very few pure bred dogs, all about helping the strays and preventing more unwanted litters if you know what I mean, different situation than our pampered pets here on FHC.
Thank you! That's a ton of experience with young dogs and one/ none descended. Here's hoping that the vet says there's lots of ball droppage, or definitely on the way to make this easier on us. The waiting to spay/ neuter is a contractual agreement with the breeder. It's very common in purebred dogs. The Early Spay/Neuter Controversy -
Ah, I see, interesting! Yes iirc they usually descend 8-12 weeks. Usually, but many don't.... on the early alter article!
Isn't this interesting? The majority of my dogs have all been well behaved little gentlemen & ladies by 24 months. But did you follow my Peaches struggle? Dogs go through 'teenage' phase when they hit puberty, study claims
Might want to consider some dramamine to have on hand on case he gets sick. When my son got his new great Dane pup, I guess he was sicker than a dog.
It's possible if it's actually a small horse. Thanks guys! Got my alarm set, truck mostly packed, Google map set too. Confirmed with the breeder for ETA at EST. Lol. Badger's coming along as he likes trips. Obviously he'll be left in the truck for pickup. Just need to wake up in the am, get dressed, pack the coolers, grab some bakery and OJ at the store on the way and roll... Tires all aired up. Fluids all good.
Yes, 3.5 hrs each way. I started a thread for the one we choose. All pups checked out with ball droppage as of this am's vet check.
