Lol. To be honest, we took the US way home from NE in Fall, and we thought it was a little nicer, and easier. We took the scenic way up through the LP, at Toledo, then up past Ann Arbor, then over the Mackinac bridge, and along the north shore of lake Michigan in the UP, then down past Green Bay to home. That last bit was more miles, but my wife had never been on the Mackinac bridge, and it had been since I was a baby that I was on it. The whole trip was a sightseeing/ experience trip, so it made sense. Life's more about the journey than the destination.
Yeah, there's that.. we've got about a 4.5 hour trip., One way. Gas is cheap at least. I'm expecting a stop or two, and not for us.
Oh, we considered it, there was a gtg about that time too. We stopped for beer before Cleveland. PA's weird limits didn't allow me to fill the back of the truck with enough yuengling for Sconnie standards. I did get the yuengling Bock in Eerie where we stayed overnight. That was a great beer. That 700+ mile range with the 36 gallon fuel tank is nice for long hauls. One if these days we'll stop out there
All seven pups are spoken for now. No, we didn't get another from this litter, just the 1. Now to continue to figure which one we want...
The pups are getting big! And they are getting personalities formed as well. We talked with the breeder via messenger and we're picking our pup on Friday the 15th and taking him home then. Still undecided as to which one, but probably between black collar ( the lightest colored one and I think still the biggest), grey collar, whose got this awesome fox red upper color with a lighter yellow underneath color, and teal collared, that is lighter in color than all but the black collar. All three of those have pretty chill demeanors, not too aggro like red or orange collared pups. Whoever gets red collared pup better hunt with him, he's going to be a fireball, despite him being the smallest. He's always wrestling, instigating stuff with the others, even sleeping pups.
Well Horkn , my brat eating packer loving friend, by this time next week, you should be home and have posted pics of at least one pup! Drive careful!
Yes, we will. Friday at noon actually we have our appointment to meet them and pick one to take home. Going to fill up the tanker truck by Thursday so we can get on the road. Gas had gone up a bit, but I've got two different gas discounts to use, with one for 50¢ off a gallon for up to 35 gallons that I have to use before the end of May.
Here's a new pic today of the black collar pup. He likes getting into the kiddie pool, and the toy basket, and up the doggie ramp....
Pups go on on Friday AM for their last checkup at the vet. They'll get weighed and checked for all sorts of stuff. Black collar as of the last vet check at 5 weeks had not dropped both testicles. Only 1. The rest, had dropped both, besides red collar hasn't dropped either yet. From what I read, if you're getting the pup neutered, there's not much issue, except that you'll want to get them fixed at the 12 month instead of the 24 month time that breeders recommend. That and the fixing is more like a female spay as one or both need to come out from internally. That adds a little more cost, but that isn't a concern. Also you wouldn't want to have any bred if they haven't dropped both, but that is of zero concern for us. What is slightly concerning is that males that don't drop both testicles on their own are more susceptible to cancer. That's why they say to fix them sooner. I don't want to overthink this, but I don't want to gloss over this either. They can take up to 4 months to drop typically. Anyone with dog breeding / veterinarian experience want to weigh in? wildwest ?
