Think Jeopardy. Me: I'll take tractors for $1000. Alex Trebek: It is the greatest time saving tractor implement. Me: What is the front end loader? All kidding aside, why did I wait so long to buy one that I didn't have to borrow from Dad or my FIL? We've had it for a little over 2 years and still loving the thing!
Did some splitting, winching and skidding with the tractor this weekend. It was muddy and when skidding, turning uphill required use of the split brakes! In the one picture i circled my self releasing snatch block and the second log i was winching up. For reference, they were about 18" and 22" in dia.
I try to get the slide off snow taken care of ASAP cause it doesn't take long to become like a block of ice.
Got a chance to go out before the rain and get some dead and down Ash, Elm, Cherry. Not very big but there is a lot of these trees along the hedgerows at the edge of the swamp. Cut the smaller stuff and loaded it in the bucket
I like those little stems, just tractor & saw work. It takes a lot of them but time wise, I think it's about even in the end without having to run it through the splitter.
Went out and got some more yesterday Hope to get more tomorrow before we get rain on Saturday. It skids easy with this snow
These are the first two of my venture into the firewood tote club. I will say that even with fluid filled R4's, and a back blade on the 3 point, that it was still a bit sketchy. I will need to experiment with some other implements on the 3 point. I hate to have the size (added length) of the rotary cutter on there for woods work. Maybe my box blade is heavier. If not, I guess the carryall full of wood will be the ticket. I have also considered a set of 3-point pallet forks and just put a tote on the back too. But, I don't have any rear remotes or a hydraulic top link though...
