I am just finishing up the 50 hour service on my Kubota. The front axle oil wasn’t due but a Kubota mechanic said it was a good idea. I saw a video on YouTube and the guy put aluminum foil on the wheel to keep them clean. That worked out well.
Nice job! You used the bucket lock? Curious what the 2x4 was used for? Did you have the wife use a shop vac to keep the trans fluid in place while you swapped out the filters?
The 2x4 was to keep the loader arms from falling on me. Is there a lock? No! I didn’t know about the shop vac! Very expensive filter change
I was dubious, but that shop vac trick really works. I used it when I did the 50 hour service last summer.
Yes there is a lock, but it's mainly for the control shaft. Should be right underneath. Good on you for added safety.
I always use the lever lock, but that 2x4 is a great idea. I often use the FEL to lift my mowers for service, and know I should be safer-that 2x4 trick looks like a good simple way to do so.
That 2x4 isn't going to do squat. Sorry to rain on your parade. If that bucket falls due to a hydraulic line failure, it is going to come down so hard and so fast, it will snap that 2x4 or create such a ruckus that clamp will be knocked off. To make a safe easy fail safe situation, do you see where the ram is coming out of the cylinder? then to the end of the ram? Measure that distance and cut a piece of angle iron, using a hose clamp put the angle iron against the ram in that space, lower the bucket until all pressure released and the angle iron is holding the bucket. Now you have a mechanical lock. Even jack stands, if the item being worked on isn't lowered to the stands and checked for stability, you aren't safe under something with them under there. Jack stands and locks don't "catch" falling items, they mechanically lock it in place. So for using your bucket for working on lawn mower, cut a piece of angle iron for the distance your bucket is up and then you also will be safe. Hydraulics are wonderful tools, but they are patient like all tools and wait for us to become complacent. Okay, will step off of the podium now and back to your regularly scheduled programming.
Yes, you'll have to go back quite a few pages. First hole dug with the 3pt post hole digger page 33 Homesteading - Chicken Coop Build ,Chickens,Pond, Garden & Projects
Had I known you were out there playing I would have stopped on my way by. I was in Jackson about 3:30! Long 2 days and ready to be home!
Been in Vermont working, have to work here tomorrow 15 minutes from home at 8 am. Sad thing is I've been through Conway 3 times in the past week and I hate going to Conway. Came from southern Maine yesterday and took 302, that ride was horrible being the tourist season. I'm really not sight seeing I got work to do.
