I hope not! Our local forecast is saying it should be by us around 5 or 6 so I’m crossing my fingers. I’ll need to get out tomorrow and clean the roof off anyway but it’s supposed to be even colder with more wind so I hope to get most of it done today.

Oh yes maybe. There was some talk of it wrapping around later as it moves out. The mountains here kinda lock the snow in, sometimes it snows for hours after the storms move on. Gonna head to the notch, then come home and plow

I bet it’s wild in the notch! Be careful out there. You guys are getting all snow right? It’s hard to see on radar. We’ve been getting sleet for some time now but radar still shows snow. Now our forecasts are saying the 24”+ snowfall will be in the mountains and up north. We still have relatives in Caribou and they’re bracing for over 2’. They’ had 6’ already with at least half of it still on the ground. damm good sledding up there this year, and a long season. They can have it lol.

Yup snowing hard here. If we actually get the 1-3 per hour, we might see 24"+

My Kubota has a regular temperature gauge, about 25% from cold to halfway is a dot. I do not move anything except ignition key until temps reach that dot. That what mechanic said worked for 12 years so far.. I believe in KISS principles. Our diesel is winter grade starting in Nov.

I use the block heater on my Kubota if I have time and it is below freezing. It lives in a weather tight but unheated Amish built one car garage. I have a good source of off road diesel (benefit of living on an area with loggers, famers, etc.) I still treat it as well beginning in October, so I have at least 8-10 gallons of treated fuel in the tank. Used to mix 2 gallons of kerosene with 3 gallons of diesel but haven't done that in a few years.

I was suprised that Kubota still uses block heaters. My brother is a contractor, and his newer equipment all have intake heaters, the same principle as the blow dryer trick mentioned by a previous poster.

I also keep a spare fuel filter for anything diesel. Never have had to use one but good insurance for cold temps.

Nice work Kerry! I need to get Dawn to learn the kubota for if I'm not around.

I took some shaky video, it's uploading and will post in about 25 minutes. :)

Looks like only the B2650's are making video appearances today. :loco:

It’s nice, Kerry got some experience and now she likes using the tractor. She really needs to be able to plow when I’m at work.

Our tv weather folks "blockbuster" is a bust. :picard: We do have about 10" but the sleet is mixing in at times and that does not help with the depth. I cleaned up all day between the tractor and the SS. They each have their strong points.

We supposedly have warmer air above causing the sleet. I have not seen over 9* all day long.

Here's a video earlier of the B2650 moving snow. Sorry it's a bit shaky, kinda hard to spin the wheel & run the loader with one hand and hold the camera with the other, but you get the idea. Recieved about a foot and it's still going. Storm should be winding down here soon.

I am really happy how with much snow mine pushed. It bogged down a little and I hit the throttle and away it went!

I wouldn’t even run a tractor in the winter w/o chains! What a difference they make, even If you have FWD.

I ended up doing the same, especially pushing long stretches or pushing up against 6ft high piles.

Nice to see the "mountain laurel", at least that's what we used to called it in MD.

Well, checked under the hood on the tractor and confirmed it does not have a block heater installed.

I'll look into installing one of the freeze plug heaters this year, and won't be running it much over the winter.

Will also be picking up some fuel additive as I'm not sure what grade of diesel the local station sells.

I noticed a previous poster wondering about the hydraulic fluid and getting it warmed up. I don't know if it makes a big difference, but I will raise and lower the 3pt 20 or 30 times, as well as raise and lower the bucket, and dump and roll it back the same amount. I figure it must warm the fluid up a bit.whether
To make it clear, I do this before I move the tractor out of the garage.
