The borrowed L3901 is doing a fine job...
It was very wet where the stump was, so I cut the log 24' long, grabbed it with the grapple and pulled it to solid ground 20240903_101646.jpg
Headed to the trailer with a 12' cut... 20240903_103212.jpg

Hopefully in a week or so. They did find the part in Texas, having to ship it here.

Spent the day augering holes in the orchard for trees, only found 3 holes that needed a bucket to dig out rocks out of 444 holes. The last hole was a rock the size of a dining room table, and still there as I lost a tooth on the bucket.

Yeah it is a lot of holes spread over 1.75 acres. Two had softball to basketball sized rocks, and the one with the massive rock.

Missing tooth was recovered from the hole this morning. At the edge of the rock just below the dirt. Just need to go buy a couple roll pins this week. IMG_5161.jpeg

Yes I like always having the 261 available. It’s attached to the loader.

Well the mini got the rock out of the ground, won’t lift it, but can drag it. Backfilled the hole, and will haul in some loam to even out the depression, then re-auger the holes that got filled in. Started drilling holes (finished 5) in the rock for the expanding grout, but all of my batteries are dead now, so a break while they charge.

It was a busy weekend with prior commitments, so work on the property was slower than normal. The rock broke into pieces and separated in layers as well. The piece in the excavator thumb was the perfect size for a sitting rock, so it got moved and placed at the wood yard, where it broke into two pieces. Off to the rock pile it went, at least I tried to make another spot to take a break.

Got it all cleaned up and hauled off, backfilled the hole with stockpiled loam and called it done for now. The loam is like powder from the lack of rain, I need to rake it and seed it, but I’m dragging my feet on that part. Finished the project at dark so I’ll have to get a completed photo.

I hauled a bunch of people around town last weekend at a fall craft fair. This was one of the wide spots in the road. IMG_6575.jpeg

Another downed tree for the wood pile; this time on the side of my front yard - on the hill.

Pic of tree on the hill; my house is off to the left:

Dried up leaves, can anyone ID?
