Not sure just yet, looks like under an inch, but with the warmer temps moving in, i expect flooding & ice jams. Will likely clear some areas tomorrow near the house.
Had the bota out for a couple hours today. I started working on the poplar again. The rest of it is down with the hill, so i cut 3 sections so i could pull it up with the tractor. I was only able to get the first section since the rest is frozen hard into the ground. I bucked that up and dumped it in the processing area. (I need to pickup some longer chain so I'm not using a beefy strap. Next on deck was trimming all of the white pine heading down below. Now there's room without scraping up the canopy. Lastly, i gave the middle buster a try. I wanted to deepen the ditch along the side of the trail down, but was only able to go a couple inches- grounds are frozen solid. Ooh well!
I don't think you are too far from a Labonville store. I buy these hooks there and make my own chains for my Farmi winch. 5/16 grade 70 chain at 5 to 6 feet and you're in under $20 a chain. Can't buy them premade for that amount and my tractor is 80 horse, I've never had any problems with them. If you don't have a store close you can order them on the website.
Heck yea I'm close. Gorham is not far at all, same for Conway only a little farther. Thanks I'll check em out! Where u tend to get your chains from, local?
The Conway store is more of a "boutique", lot's of clothes with 1 wall of logging stuff. There's also Windy Ridge in Tamworth NH.Windy Ridge Corporation Since 1985
I have a friend that owns a contractor supply business right here and I just buy th chain by the foot. I think it's about $2 a foot. Check around and see what you can get local, just make sure it is grade 70 or better. Usually it's gold colored. If you can't find anything reasonable let me know and I'll grab some next time I go your direction .
Isn't everything in Conway? I despise going there every summer for a softball tournament 4th of July weekend and paying out the azz for a bed to sleep in. 2 more summers and shes off to college and I won't endure that one again.
Conway has alot of stores no doubt. Littleton is within a half hour, so that's our go to for tsc, Lowes, home depot, etc.
Yeah when the girl's are done playing Saturday early the women all head to that big outlet mall. The guys go shopping at the Muddy Moose, usually by the time the women finish we are "bout done" for the day, hence the overpriced bed. Otherwise I avoid that town at all costs. I don't turn down much work but I will not take any assignments in Conway. I just spent 2 days in fuelrod area. That stops come summer around that lake.
We have a house on the other side of Littleton in Lisbon, NH, but like you Littleton is where we go for everything needed. A lot of times we will stop in at Tractor Supply or Lowes because it is tax-free New Hampshire. We also have some great friends that live in Twin Mountain, NH, but have a house next to us here in Maine too. Incidentally, Lowes was where Katie and I first met because she worked there for a few years. Oh if that parking lot could talk! She still has a lot of friends that work there so we chose that over Home Depot, but only because of that reason. Incidentally, we got married in North Haverill, NH because a lot of her family is from that general area (Lisbon, Benton, Bath, Lisbon, etc). As for Conway; I despise that town as well. I got a woodlot to log off one year in Fryeburg, Maine which is not far away, and went there for dinner and whatnot. WHAT A NIGHTMARE TO DRIVE THROUGH as it was a summer woodlot. But driving through North Conway is sad because we can go through Crawford Notch on the way home which has a nice views, not that Jefferson, and Franconia Notch are not bad either though.
Good prices on here...... Anyone speak for quality? Maina you might want to look into this skidsteerattachmentdepot.com
Good price on a grapple. Thanks for the link Well Seasoned. Are you preparing for the big storm? Looks like up to 18” of wet and heavy stuff here.
Ive been building a coop. I closed in the open sides and finished up the strapping to hold up to the snow load. Other than that, plow is ready......
Zang... Yes, just like mine... But mines almost 10 years old and only used on mine x720 JD... I'm in a totally different playing field than yours and Gas's power....
