My driveway is also, had a choice either sand it or rent a zamboni and buy hockey skates. We chose to sand
It just started raining tonight and they're calling for around a quarter of an inch with the temps dropping to 30, our driveway was ice with an inch of snow on it but after this.......all ice.
With temps at 43°F here this afternoon, I took advantage and did another backdrag, this time getting down to stone. Other areas that get no sun are still 2-3 inches thick.
We ended up hitting 38 today which helped the driveway out. I grabbed a garbage can full of ashes from over a year ago and used a bunch on our driveway, closer to the house I used sand.
Really slippery this morning. I swung over to the town yard and picked up some more sand and did the same. I tried throwing it into my spreader, but it was to slick for the tires to spin it. Would love a 3pt spreader. Not happening- bosses orders!
I came close last week to tying to get sand for spreading. We have lots of it here but it does freeze. Still, some of the south facing might allow us to get sand. Fortunately, the snow and ice all melted....only to get more snow today.
Well, i broke in the Kubota today. I had the work van at home last night and moved everything to push all the snow we got. I clipped the 40ft ladder that was on the van with the fiberglass canopy. I stopped immediately, but it was too late. 4" crack in the sob! I need to purchase some Kubota orange to blend everything back in.
Brian, not sure how you intend to patch that but a cheap but strong way to patch it is with super glue and baking soda. Makes things really strong. One could probably also use something like corn starch too or even something a bit coarser. I've only used baking soda but that really makes things strong. It is best to do it in several applications. Put some on and let the glue set up then add more. When done, just sand it and paint it.
