A longer burned will depend on what species it is. Having the better hardwoods will make that possible. I have never minded burning the crotches or chunkies, but they are a nut to stack. Having a Cage crate/ IBC tote with some kind of livestock fencing to be keeping everything in since they aren’t all going to be 16-18 inchers with straight splits. But they’ll always be great for any time burns. Even now I’m burning chunky splits and there’s not much else to argue about it. Lengthy burns are based on stove efficiencies and dry wood, so stoves being catalytic would likely have best burn times. Not likely to be discernible but unless you’re so timely with your reload, how its packed and notice coaling differences or more fire at that time that you reload is going to vary slightly.
I know that Fir crotches and knotty uglies burn significantly longer. There is some science behind it. The knots and crotches are usually denser but more important, the wood ( in Fir) is usually sappier and has a stronger resiny smell. More resin, more BTU's. They will burn hotter but longer if damped down!
