It's taken 3 months, but our kitchen is finally done except for a few small things. Even though the layout isn't much different than the old kitchen, it's much more convenient to use and easier to clean. The wife likes the location of the stove a lot. When she makes breakfast on the weekends, she says she feels like she's on a cookin' show. Overall, we are very pleased with the way it turned out. Tomorrow, I finally get to clean all of the floors.
Nice work. My kitchen took close to a year to complete. Part of that was saving up paychecks and part was just having no time to work on it. 3 months is great. The farm sink looks great too.
Thanks. It's done, but not done-done. There are still a lot of little things left to do. I need to make some pan hangers soon. Next winter, I plan on making pull outs for all the lower cabinets. The entire kitchen and dining room came in at under $20k. We planned and saved for it for a long time.
Very nice looking kitchen. It will be a joy to work in I am sure. Nice and bright with no dark holes. the under cabinet lighting really looks good.
The wife says it's a happy kitchen and that's the look I was going for. Kitchen lighting is important, especially when the eyes start getting older.
Here's some cabinets I built a while back for a new house. We build so many cabinets that I don't usually bother to take pictures.
Here's one we are currently working on. It's obviously not finished. The island I built, my brother did the finishing... The customer wanted it to look a lot like the one in this pic she found on Pinterest...
Another "in progress" pic of a kitchen we did a few months ago. I never did get a pic after we finished the job. It's vertical grain white oak, maple plywood interiors. The lumber came from a guy in North Carolina, rough sawn, and random thickness. We had to plane it all down to the dimensions we needed. Even the drawer boxes are solid white oak...
Nice match on that island. Looks like some of the knot holes even match. I like how you put plywood on top of the cabinets.
Working on our new kitchen layout. It will be smaller than the one we have now. Just the wife and me so not so much space needed. The dishwasher will be to the right of the sink. The colors are not accurate. we picked an antique white with an almond glaze. We looked at granite countertops today. wall paint and backsplash has not be selected yet.
She got all SS. the frig is a four door unit, two French doors on top, then a pull out crisper, then a pull out freezer. water and ice in the door. The stove is a five burner gas stove. 2 cubic foot microwave and a SS dishwasher.
