Got the trim up on the back window and back door finally. Panel installed around the quad gang switch... then I heard the call of the wild....
That's the plan! My son is 4 and daughter is 2 and we're not moving until they're done with high school! G
Took the words right outta mah mouth! You guys have a great eye for design...looks like a showcase house!
You are too kind! We spent a year and a half planning the project, I'd like to think anyone could do the same with investing the time. Learned a ton! Thankfully we headed off the worst of the mistakes in the planning phase. Only real unanticipated item was that there was a vent pipe in a wall that we had to move and unrelated - our hot water heater died about halfway through the project, go figure. The last pics I shared are last weekend - almost caught up to the present! Then progress will be a bit slower as I work through the remaining punch list and split my energy between that and firewood. (no pun intended hahah) Bathroom is next! Garry
You have no fear of the unconventional, and you pull it off in all your pics of the place. Nice build, well thought out, and obvious pride in what you do. What design SW did you use in that first post showing the 3D concept??
Thanks so much for the compliment - this is the 10th place that I've lived. Learned a lot fixing up the previous 9 residences and I'm trying to do it once, and do it right!
I'm a big fan. I designed my kitchen using it. Like you, me and the wife had umpteen bazzilion hours of planning involved. No regrets so far.
I am going to guess either 20/20 Design depending on the cabinet brand you used (most cabinet manufacturers support this program with their products) or Chief Architect. I'm leaning towards the CA looking at the graphics. I was glad to see the thread about makeup air. I was going to tell you that in the end but you knew what you needed. I try to tell customers when I do a kitchen that if you have a big stove, you need a big vent, and when you do a big vent, you have to replace all that air you are sucking out of the house. I had a job that the contractor didn't do makeup air and the homeowner thought there was something wrong with their old hot water tank because the pilot light was going out. The vent was drawing so much air that it was sucking the pilot light out in the basement of the house. Now that contractor knows that big hoods need new air. Very neat building in the old pantry cabinet and and the hood. I've done the glass block before and as you well know, it is amazing how much stuff is in the walls that needs moved somewhere else and that turns into quite the project in itself on where to put it all so it looks decent in the end.
