Correct....I find that the pellet ash seems to be kinda hydrophilic.....if its humid, as many basements are, upon cleaning a stove that has sat dirty for a time with no dessicant to take up the moisture.....they can actually be quite wet

I think it needs a little more than a cleaning.

If the combustion fan blade is frozen or the auger is frozen, then the stove will not run.
A good Sandblasting and painting will fix the stove right up.
Tell the customer to get a good electric or propane heater and dehumidifier to keep the stove warm and dry or move the stove to a location that is not damp!

Actually and most likely, it is all clogged up under the burn pot. If you remove the cover and clean it out, then it should work fine. :)

At first I thought it didn't run because it looks like it was pulled from the Titanic. But I reread the thread and it is clearly because it is a piece of chit Harman:p

I'm certainly not a pellet guy, but something tells me they shouldn't look like that.

Definitely damp basement and I'm sure outside vent is left uncovered in the Summer so all that humidity can roll right in .

Holy crap! Judging from the scale, it almost looks like it's been submerged. I have a dirt floor basement that has two sump pumps that run most of the year. To say the humidity is high in there would be an understatement. I have never seen any rust or corrosion anywhere close to that. I'll be interested in what all it took to get it running again.

yea, and who carries a sandblaster around in their service van?! Honestly, this stove cannot be properly serviced in-home. If the steel looks like that, imagine the condition everything else is in.....whats the auger look like? mechanicals? Would you charge a standard cleaning fee for this much neglect?
And if you sandblast this baby, and holes DO appear, whose fault is that?

Why, it is your fault that your stoves are gummy.
