"kicker Stove"

Just a little over a year ago, I picked up a drolet el dorado. It is an epa stove (non cat) with secondaries and I got it for less that $225.
99 was very opposed to it at first, since we also have an OWB. I installed it for a test period (her) and wouldn't you know it, the power dropped out one evening! After that she relented and said the stove can stay! (just like a kid bringing home a puppy, no?)
I bought the stove for the basement since it usually warms up to no more than 60 at best.
This year, she has been asking more frequently if I am going to make a fire down there and usually comes down to sit, play cards, dice, puzzles, etc. She's getting hooked and really enjoys it!

I might add that the homeowners insurance only increased $45 a year. Small price to pay for the extra warmth throughout the basement.

My next attempt is to buy a larger stove...nc-30 would deliver the burn times I'm interested in; and a guy I work with would be a potential buyer for the drolet.

I have mentioned it just once so far....gonna have to become a bit more persistent before the sales kick in from HD!

 

The 30-NC is still on sale for $649 at Home Depot (I just verified it still works).

If you understood 99 at all, you would realize that this is a long drawn out groveling process!

Hey, I married a Michigan girl, I know how it is! But a good deal that will keep her warm in the winter, she'll come around.

 

Wow, Eldorado to 30nc, that's a pretty big size change. Might want to go smaller if ours only the kicker. The 13 might be s better option... that 30 could roast you out.

 

Northern Tools has the NC-13 on sale but for a bit more you can get the NC-30 from HD.

 

I have the nc-13 at the cottage. I was just pipe dreaming that if I wanted longer burn times, the 30 would be the way to go.

 

It's just a longer burn time type stove for the basement, that's all. Kinda a place to escape and hunker down in, ya know?

 

She's much more to look at than that one!

One step closer to the ultimate goal!

When the stove is lit, 99 enjoys spending more time in the basement next to it. We will set up a card table and play cards, dice puzzle build, etc. Last night, she says time to get some different furniture down here...something new, as long as we're down here more.

Perfect time to jump in with the bigger stove idea, right? I will bide my time and strike when the moment is right! (below zero storm!)

Yup! A bit rustic, the basement is. I already have the 13 and am impressed with it. Definitely go with the legs and not the pedestal though! Can't understand the pedestal, ya know? It looks so much better with legs.
