Brought another load in today to replenish what I burned last week. I'm doing this every weekend now because it won't take much snow on the ground to stop the 2 wheel drive tractor with no weights on the rear. I could put the snowblower on but then it restricts my movement around a tree by the wood door and I can't get parked the way that's convenient for unloading. I got lucky last year and made my last run on January 16th. Yes, I keep a typed record of this every year on the computer every time I bring wood in. I've admitted my anality before on here and am not embarrassed by it.

This is our second winter heating. I thought I knew about what we used last year, but we had no real way to measure, other than knowing the size of the stacks we brought up. We didn't burn last fall. And I didnt track the use per week or day. So I devised a simple spreadsheet. Each time we empty the rack near the back door, we note it. One shelf on the rack is 1/4 cord. This fall it lasted several weeks at one burn/day, then two weeks at 2 burns/day, now to a week or so burning 24/7. Not only will we know more exactly how much we use, but when we used it. I track variables like guests and the east wing being open, but not outdoor temperature. We simply heat to be comfortable. So far im handwriting info in, and will add that to the copy on the computer. I plan to keep this tracker going for a few years. We also track our electric/gas and other utility uses to figure out where and when we use....and see how badly we are getting sodomized. And see what efforts to cut have netted us. Sca
