    These are honey bees, thay can be a little bit darker depending on the breed.

    This is a yellow jacket and some people mistake them for honey bees. they are a little bit smaller than a honey bee and more yellow and less hair on their backs.

    Honey bees in the spring like this do some crazy stuff. I have found stumps for maples I cut down during rhe winter totaly covered with honey bees. In bird feeder kicking seeds out to get the dust from the seeds, Once at a horse farm they were in the grainary collecting horse feed that had a bit of mollasses mixed in.

    So Ya I do believe you had honey bees in your shed from the information provided. But to be saft look around real well for a paper mâché type nest yellow jackets make in buildings.

    Definitely not wasps. Looked a lot like your first pic...but a little smaller. Maybe this crazy weather has 'em all screwed up this year.
