I can't recall the exact max length, but I know it will do 24" processed. I think its around 25-26". A lot of hydraulic splitters wont do that long either.
I built one (hydraulic) that will do 30". I'm waiting for it to fail, bend, break or blow up but she's hung in for 39+ years and now I'm not sure if it or I will fail first. I'd love to build a new one, my tools and fab skills are much better than they were as a teenager.
Still waiting for the email saying it's ready...I chose the electric as the 220 outlet is 30 feet away from where I split. Also, with 220 at that length no upsizing needed. Oh a video will be coming...wait for it...!
The splitter i have is the table top 5 ton that you can't find easily from northern tool. Its pretty nice, but is showing the abuse that I have put it through. You can tell some parts are bent from pushing it over its limit. The manual says to not split anything over 10 inches in diameter, i have split ponderosa pine round about 25 inches before.
