Just joined the Stihl club by purchasing a new MS171

    I may when I get it back. But, I use Stihl 2 in 1 sharpeners so the rakers are touched every time.

    I wonder if the 2 in 1 tool can be shimmed or the guides swapped for smaller/thinner ones...

    I use a 5/32 file holder with a 3/16 file for my 325 chains.

    I haven't thought about it as I'm happy with how they work for me as long as I'm using them on a chain from new. I touch up the chain once done cutting even if it feels sharp. Now, trying to correct a rocked chain with one isn't something I do anymore. I use my cheap grinder.

    I think you will like the MS171. We got the MS180 a few years ago, finally swapped over to a 14", .050 gauge bar so we could use full chisel chain. Opened the muffler a bit, use it alot on 12" and under logs.

    Give them a call and see if they have one in stock. I certainly don't need another lol. I paid $529 plus sales tax where Jim Bear lives and shipping. Hair over $600 total.
