Cut a soft maple today. It came down in that last big wind we had. We had noticed earlier that it was just about to come down and had even split. I figured on mother nature finishing the job; just not so quick.
Great pile of logs there Dennis Rest that back up a bit... unless the Ornery One piled them lawgs up!
It's nice when nature lends a hand.....as long as it's not on your house, garage, shop, barn, etc.....
Nice pile there, Savage. That will make some nice clean splits by the looks of it. I like soft maple for a good everyday sort of wood.
This look like the ideal size to process Dennis. Don't try to do too much of it in one day, there is always tomorrow . I got about 5 truckloads of soft Maple myself this year, more than usual in my stacks. It sure is easy to cut & split. Enjoy!
Oh yeah. It helps a lot. Oh yes, I hurt but a lot less than I would have without the tractor and the saw.
Yes. This is one of the great things about soft maple. Many times over the years I have cut soft maple in spring and burned it the following winter. That is, if it has been bucked, split and stacked. These logs won't get that far. We'll stack up logs through the year in case we have another get-together next spring like we have for the last 3 years. Makes for a great time running saws and splitters. Guys can try out other saws, run their own and same with splitters. They can also stop anytime for some bull sessions too. It is a great time to spend with other like minded people.
