I had a 6039 insert for several years. Only electrical issue I had was the glass fuses on the board. All I had to do was remove the fuses and tighten the fuse holders on the 5 fuses. Just squeezed them together a bit.
Could you have inadvertently hit the fuses during your diagnosing causing the safeties to begin working again ?
Sucks when you have issues with your heater.

I bought my spare ADV2 T back earlier this winter season from a fellow that answered my ad on craig's list, wanting a Prodigy 2

In pics they look a lot alike, except the P2 is half the physical size.

Only thing really wrong with it was the comb fan motor needed oiling to get it to run.

    Paid $200

Paid $200 for the P2 as well.

I like simple, and cheap too.

uh.....not so good a deal. The Advance is no longer made, and when it was made, it went for around $3650, brand new, full warranty. If this is a used unit, I would need to know the age, but more than 3 years old, $2000 or so.

Keep your eyes open on Craig's list. We sometimes take old units in trade, etc, rebuild them, test them, and resell them. Just finished a roughly 16 year old P61 (not a P61A), thing runs like a charm. Nothing wrong with older units, as long as parts are still readily available. The stove body doesn't go bad, usually wear parts and mechanicals. One the 61, we changed the feeder weldment, circuit board, distribution fan, flame guide, combustion fan. Thats a bit of money, but as I also own a P61, I am partial to them, it runs well now. Because we had to rebuild and warranty it, this will go for a fair chunk of change, but if you keep your eyes out locally, you can do pretty well. I paid $200 for the unit.

5K! I don't know what one you have been looking at. Most of the Harmans I've seen are 3-4 K. That being said, it would take a heck of a lot to convince me to use that stove of yours after it acted up like you described.
Send a PM to Snowy Rivers, She can take a stove apart, rebuild it, and make work arounds for improvements.

FWIW, I asked a stove technician that based on his experience, was there any Harman model he would stay away from in terms of maintenance issues. He quickly responded the Advance model is the only one he would avoid.

Why not make that P61 rebuild into a P61a LW? That would make it worth more?

I would like to put as little into the stove as possible Don. Making it into a autoigniting unit would require a new burn pot, new wiring harness, igniter, cradle, and a changeout of the CB. Eh, no thanks. I burn a P61 at home...no autoignitin, but I love it!~

Harman website Is still showing the harman advance and starting at 4k. I figured with upgrades it may push 5k. If I do buy a used advance what exactly am I looking for. Start, run, shut down I would imagine

The Advance has been around a long time, and it is no longer made....you might find some in stock at a dealers' place, but not for long. Because theyve been around so long, alot if iterations, the largest one being the change from chain drive to direct drive/UL feeder assembly. If its a chain drive, its gonna be over 5 years old. Becasue of the covered heat exchangers in all Advance models, its NOT one of my favorites....a covered heat exchanger means the user cant tell how dirty it is, and they can clog off if not taken care of. Yea, sure....start, run, shut down, true for any stove bought from a user. I'd check for wear on the sprockets if its a chain drive.....I'd make darn sure to check the feeder weldment tube and ensure it isnt worn out. Then there's the price.....

    Hi LW
What happens when the feeder weld meant tube is worn out? I have not seen that?

Also guess what stove I am installing in my new shop? They sure made a lot of them in 1999!

When it wears out, or burns out as well, you'd get alot of thinning at the lower end of the tube, near the end of the auger, between, say 4 o'clock and 8 o'clock. Eventually, it holes, and you lose air through your burnpot. We just replaced a weldment on a 15 year old P61......would be a fairly expensive job time-wise and part-wise for the average Joe, as you have to get a Feeder weldment, and those aren't available from secondary vendors....

    Thanks
    Good to know
Was it heavily used or in a dampish place?
