In order to sell as "New" on eBay, it also is supposed to have the original packaging, which mine didn't. I haven't checked for the "R" yet, as it is out in the shop and I am lazy. I would have still bought a refurb for that price. But it was in fact incorrectly listed, regardless. Mine looked flawless, and had no signs of ever having been run.
I went out to look at mine a few minutes ago, and see that it does have the "R" on it. It is a 2014 series, according to the EPA sticker. I would have bought it knowing that information, though it does reduce the perceived value. It is effectively a used saw in really good shape. I am glad I did not buy any for resale, I would be returning them if I did.
I did, going to call the seller tomorrow and see what they say as one of mine has obvious positive signs of being used. I sent them a picture and a message via ebay today. Sent from my SM-J727P using Tapatalk
Picture is a bit poor regarding the quality... but as you might can see overehere those Jonsereds are assembled in the USA. (below the barcode) I was a bit surprised to be honest.
Mine has the "R" stamped underneath also. No signs that it ran before though- clean and tank is not gassy. I asked this question to the seller- "What is the "R" stamped on the handle under the throttle? Ad said not refurb but wasn't sure what else it might mean." Their reply- "The factory stamps that with a R before they leave the factory to void the warranty. We ship them to you exactly the way we receive them. Brand new in the factory box. If you have anymore questions please let me know!"
And why on earth would they void the warranty from the factory? Wouldn't a V make more sense? Mine wasn't in the original box either.
To me, proof is in the picture. 1 of my 4 saws is OBVIOUSLY a true refurb. I was told on the phone the "R" mean no warranty. I got some money back so I can lower the price on that saw and somebody will still get a good deal on that saw. Sent from my SM-J727P using Tapatalk
Good deal Was the equivalent wear to the rest of that saw Or was that just a used clutch cover slapped on a new saw.
Never thought of that. 3 saws are spotless except for a few nicks one the wrap handle. This saw has dust like it was sitting on a shelf in a store for a long time. Cylinder onside looks like the other 3. When a saw gets refurbed, I wonder if they always replace or clean the cylinder. It looks new inside. Spark plug looks like the others also. Finally got my scabbards today and the 12 pack of files came the other day. I had to cut four inches off one to fit the 20" bar on the 2165.
It was never a real offer, the seller was a scammer. That is referring to the last post by Czed , not the orignial CS2255, which I received and am happy with.
