I just transitioned from an Oslo to a BK princess insert.
I have 10 cords c/s/s in the yard. 7 of those cords are cut exactly to 22" to fit the Oslo.
Now I have to cut those 7 cords down to 16" for my princess. not fun.

OUCH!!! That does not sound fun at all, believe me I can feel your pain. I've got about 2-1/2 cords, I got half of it done today but had to stop to clear a spot in the cellar for 3 tons of pellets!

Thanks Al! Working pretty good for sure, I can get about 25 pieces of wood in there so it doesn't take as long as I thought it would.

The simple fixes are the best, especially in this case. You have built an easy to use system, and it works! Looks like the problem will be solved in short order. Nice when a plan comes together. :)

Sorry to hear about the problem dylskee. Many have had similar problems. Now you have the fix and looks like you did a good job. I too can relate about the 13 hour days and even longer ones.

As for this wood seller, I perhaps look at this in a different way. Because the guy sent you a check and then would not take his wood back, this ended up to be a very costly mistake for him. These type of mistakes most times teach a man a good lesson that he will not forget. I would give him another chance just because of the way he made things right for you. Of course there is a chance he does not learn but I'm betting he will remember you (remind him!) and will take pains to give you what you want. Good luck.

For those who do just a small amount of cut-offs like this. If you use something like a box or milk crate, it is a good idea to also use a ratchet strap to hold that wood solid before doing the cutting. Actually, I think it is very important to do this.

Yup totally agree with Dennis! The wood guy was really in good faith when he refunded your money and didn't take the wood back so I would def. give him another chance.

Good to see your getting that wood sized up, it should go pretty quick with that jig you built

Yep... I do this a lot, when we need 12" dry wood up at the cabin. Park the truck near the woodshed, and run a cord out. Works slick.

Maybe the guy just made a mistake. Sounds like he did his best to right the situation. If the wood you got was good then approach him about buying some more. Explain that you liked the wood (other than the off length ones) and wanted to try again because he worked to make it right. With a proper understanding established, it may start a good business arrangement!
