    Don't feel too bad Sue. I remember having fires in June and one in July once. Not to mention August when we had some freezing temperatures...

    We had so much above normal temperatures that it was bound to happen we turn chilly at this time of year. Farmers are way behind here; not because of temperatures but because of wet, which tends to keep the temperatures down. We lost a lot of apples this week because of freezing temperatures here too.

    You are so right.
    Of course, you are Michigan, I am Maryland--I do remember we had some really chilly days in June back in the 70's, but I don't think I recall any August freezes here!
    Last year we had a late frost, which wiped out any hope for cherries, killed all about about a handful of peaches (squirrels got what was left), but had a bumper crop of apples. This year, because of the timing of the warm spells, I will have a few peaches, and few apples--but tons of cherries (as long as it doesn't freeze)!!

    Sue, I think our peaches will be okay; will know soon. Some of the apples will make it too as not all the blossoms were opened. But I fear it got most of them. We have not had a good fruit year for 3 years now...

    I well remember that year when 3 times I'm aware of there was frost or freezing in August. I remember seeing several corn fields with no green left in them by around Aug. 20. Terrible thing to happen, but it does. We one time lost our entire garden in early July because of hard freeze.

    Wow, Dennis!
    I got so many apples (I only have one self-fruiting tree), a man came by and asked if he could get some. I said sure, and lent him a 5 gal bucket. He brought the bucket back in a few days, with some venison for me!
    I guess it is par for the course living in your neck of the woods. Although, I would still trade it all not to have these steamy humid summers we are cursed with, a.k.a, the "Mid Atlantic Muggies".:dennis:

    Sue, we too have muggy weather but most of it comes in late July through October. But at least October and the last half of September at least the temperatures have cooled most of the time so is not so bad; especially when we start having high temperatures in the 50's; that really feels great.
