Norky, I can't tell from the pic. But is that a Laredo, or limited, or one of the other editions? The heater/HVAC is only a problem on overland or limited. If it hasn't failed yet, then it has to be the standard non dual zone HVAC. The dual zone in wjs is the problem. I could elaborate, as I had to fix the HVAC on moms ltd wj once, right after the factory fix under warranty failed only a year or so later. It involves taking the whole dash apart, and a lot of swearing.

Stinny, I grew up with a Willy's. It was my grandfathers, us grand kids had a blast with Papa Hank at the helm. It was a truck cab with about a 3' truck bed, I don't know the model. There were welded handles on top of cab to hold on. Every deer season ,Papa would tell us kids to all get on the uphill side of vehicle and hang down to the ground, we were just little kids, of about a 45 degree granite slope of about 50 yards. Papa always said, don't tell your mother and for gods sake don't jump off

My user name kinda gives it away I love jeeps as well. I have not had one now in 11yrs. I sold my last one when my son was born. Too much of a PITA to put in the rear facing car seat. He is 11yrs old now and my youngest is 7yrs old. They both want me to build another Jeep, just don't have the time now. Both my kids want one for their first vehicle, and I said that I would help them build one. I figure it takes at least a year or two to build one up right hence the phrase "real Jeeps are built not bought". It should build some good memories for us, and teach them how to turn a wrench, weld, sand, paint, and build an engine.

I had to go out and look at it, it says special edition on the side, never paid attention to it. It's got about every option, heated leather seats, sun roof and all that other crap, so I'd imagine it has the zone heating. Either way, I'm still careful with it and turn the zone knob on the heater slowly. Besides all the electric crap on it, it's a pretty tough vehicle and the V8 has a lot of strength at 110k miles.
I have to change the power steering pump on it this summer. That ought to be a messy job. I believe there's a youtube video on it though and that always helps.

On mine, I put an extra little piece of wire in there when I did it the second time. Soldered it and put shrink tubing on it. That was a few years ago and no problems yet, but the car doesn't get used nearly as much as when the wife had it. The break is usually inside the boot, where the wire bundle goes into the door.

Ok, is a special edition, that they made the last year or 2 of wj. Basically in between Laredo trim and limited. I think, but I'll have to check, that the SE's don't have the dual zone HVAC. That's a good thing. If so you don't need to worry as there are no can bus motors with too much torque moving cheap brittle plastic. Aluminum blend doors finally fixed it.

Sounds to me like the wire isn't completley severed yet, mine was the same way. Other things start acting goofy when it breaks completely.

It's not dual zone, same heat or cool for everybody. Good to know, thanks.

Don't tell that to a Rubicon. I know what you are saying, and appreciate it though. That Rubi is better than most people's personal wrangler builds. But even then they can be improved upon

It's not a Jeep, but my neighbor bought a minty fresh old yota fj40 a few months ago. Those things go for big bucks now.

Very nice, I hate your neighbor, very jealous. Hate to say it, but a 'Yota FJ-40 will normally smack a Jeep up one side- down the other.
    Wish I still had mine.
Current Jeep is a '73 CJ-6, stretched to 104-7/8" wb, SOA with Scout II D-44 axles- frt. &bk. And more....
Looking for a CJ-2A or 3B, prefer the 2A. Love the flatties.

I'll have to take a picture of it. It's really really nice. Looks like it rolled off the factory line almost.
