I've had a lot of Japanese woodcutting and woodworking stuff lately in my Youtube feed. I find it fascinating comparing these to western techniques.

Don't try this at home! Enjoy!

When I was young (a long long long time ago, when dinosaurs roamed the earth) I would climb trees that size without any assistance. Okay, I was a half crazy then (now I'm 100%). One thing I do know for sure, coming down face first would not be the best choice! o_O :faint:

The guys who invented this form of climbing and pruning definitely had a death wish.

    I'm a little unconventional
    I use a ladder.

I believe they use the bark from these trees (japanese cypress) as roofing material, and the wood is favored for building houses.

Yeah, normally I would advise against using ladders to climb trees for obvious reasons. But, if you were thinking about repelling down the tree head first, :bug: I'd gladly fetch one.

Shawn, I've been thinking about tree climbing for many years and trying to come up with some different ideas. This video is great as it gives me a little more fodder to process.
