I just put the factory BK Cat stat back in, just for an 'apples -to-apples' test. I'll see if something reads different.
Papadave, sorry for the hi-jack, not intentional. JB

I've run hard quite a bit during the cold/blowing part of the winter. I haven't had any issues running at higher tstat settings as long as the blowers are going. The manual kind of alludes to turning the fans up as you turn the tstat up but doesn't do a great job of it imo. tstat 3 or above on my stove and you better have the fans on or turn it down.

For any given tstat setting, I think the cat is the same temp whether the fans are on or off. The only difference is how fast the heat is transferred.

Not to worry JB, this is all good info, and I'm soaking it all in.
Talk amongst yourselves, while I eavesdrop.

    Pretty hard to beat
    High rated for clean burning
82.5% efficiency X 100lbs of wood = lots of BTUs of heat in your house
