Good luck Mike! I will buy a copy if you sign it. I have been published once in a National Fire Service publication and I can tell you it is gratifying! Only got paid $ 250.00 but it was worth way more than that to me!

Sounds great, being in the real estate industry I see so many people that get excited about heating with wood. Then after the first year they are burned out because they did it all wrong. Hopefully you can reach your intended audience and help people out. My little brother is in the process of buying a house and I have preached to him enough about seasoning he is already asking about how much wood he should get to get started burning. So he should be ahead of the game as he will be cutting and stacking before he even gets a stove.

Your little brother is lucky to have a big brother to advise him. I remember when I got started in 1974. There were a whole bunch of guys (mostly all members of the American Business Club) in my town that year, who decided burning wood was the way to go. I don't remember much but probably one of the energy crunches. I was pretty young and saved my money to buy a wood stove, because I already loved burning wood from my childhood. They are all gone, most lasted a year or so. 40 years later, I am still burning wood. And I have loved every minute of it. I now have 2 stoves in my house so there are NO COLD SPOTS! :) My wife even loves it, and for many years she was less than impressed. Now she has her own stove in the kitchen. Life is good.

X3 on the signed copy Mike.

If there was ever a man to do it? It would be a man like yourself.

The years of extensive work and all the knowledge that's contained inside of your brain? It needs to be put out for the masses. The wood burning world needs a good book. Not just a manual that comes with a stove, that someone won't read.... A true Manuscript (Masterpiece) on burning.

    Good luck Mike..

Mike, Congrats on your project. I am sure its going to be interesting to put a life time of experiences into this book.

Did you ever read the story on Fisher stoves? Not really a how to book but for some reason for me was an interesting read and a good story.

Maybe you can inject some stories of a lifetime involved with wood stoves. along with the knowledge of the Art of Wood Stove Operation.

yeah, I have read that , a few years back. will be re- reading it im sure as this project goes along, along wit some other books on the subject. biggest part of that is to ensure I don't "step on toes" my intent is to educate not debate.

I have some advantages over the authors who have penned books on the subject back in the day, I have the internet so I can look up things at a whim. I can also tap into the greatest resource stove owners who have posted descriptions, techniques and photos of the topic in forums like this one and others. ive seen a huge amount of support from members in here , over on the hearth and other forums I contribute to. I think most serious wood burners get my intentions and are extremely supportive of my intended work because they recognize the need for education on the tropic of modern wood burning appliances.

im actually overwhelmed a bit by the support I receive on the subject. I appreciate every little note people drop to me by PM and such, im getting e mails asking if the book will be available in other languages for petes sake and ive only just begun.

Hope you make sure it is well illustrated. Wood burners have a thing about "it isn't true without pic's"

yeah , illustrations are definitely going to be included. I have diagrams and I have quite a few who have offered up pictures to me to include as far as finished products (stove in place and burning) install shots of flue setups , liners with block offs for inserts, as well as some shots and charts from manufacturers (my company obviously but a couple of the pipe manufacturers have offered to let me use some of their stuff as long as I credit the shots to them 9they get free ad space that way and all I have to do is put a chyron under the shot "courtesy of "X" pipe manufacturer. of course I will thank them heartily in the "thanks yall" section at the end of the book.

as for private folks who wish to "donate shots" i'd love to see them and as long as I do not see a glaring violation to code (in which case I will point it out to the sender) and they fit what im conveying i'd be happy to have them and credit the person donating the shot by name , screen name or by "poster on "x" forum" their preference.

Dont forget EBook as many authors just publish in ebook form now , but being able to get both hard back copy and ebook available would be great.

Here is something to think about not sure if its doable with ebooks is to add in short video snippets.

Hello, I don't think Ive introduced myself but I like texts on the subject of fires and this would be something I would be genuinely interested in. Im reviving old posts but since when does an "old" post go bad if it has reliable information or the promise of some. Hope this project for you has begun
