Its Cup time..

I dont know if there are any football/soccer fans out there but were playing Portugal right now. Weve been following the World Cup pretty closely here at the house its the only sport my wife really likes and one of few that I can tolerate. It would be pretty cool to see US win the cup this go around.

 

Just started watching a few minutes ago.Cable keeps going off & on,with all channels so something must be wrong at their main tower north of metro area

Have been a World Cup follower for many years now.Remember being at O'hare Airport in Chicago heading home after visiting a friend in NE PA for a week in 2006,as I was walking down that ramp to board the plane guy behind me had his radio on,US was just knocked out by Ghana I believe.That sucked.

Spain had a real powerhouse team for a while,they won the 2008 euro, 2010 cup & 2012 euro.Germany is also a traditional favorite,having won the cup in 1990 & finished 3rd in 2006 behind Italy (their 1st Cup win since 1982) & France (their strongest showing since their only Cup win in 1998).Former West German player/coach Jurgen Klinsmann is the current US head coach.

 

We were in Greece for the 2010 cup and got to watch a few games in a local coffee shop/bar. US is doing a pretty good job of maintaining and controlling the ball but they cant seem to get it in the net Theyre looking a lot better than they were in the last game against Ghana and we won that one.

I cant believe they let it go like that We had it all wrapped up nicely and had Portugal out of there and got lazy and let it go. The Germans are next and they are tough too.

 

Work put me in Germany during the 2006 cup. I didn't go to any matches but it was a great time anyway. Imagine the Super Bowl lasting for a few weeks and you can get the idea of what it was like.

 

So USA guarantees advance to the next round with a win or a tie today vs. Germany...match at noon. Even if they loose they can still advance if...Portugal ties or based on total goals scored...

 

Im hoping for a win today three points is better than one. This should be a good match today either way.
