With snow cover since the end of January i havent been able to get back and finish up. Ground froze up good overnight and yard was firm to back in to load. Snow was gone for the most part. Bucked up the big tree on the hill. Rolled down to section and load. (Only taking the BL) Before Second load of dead rounds, smalls and nuggets that i was to go back for, but ended up getting stuck in mud at my friends. Neighbor with F350 and rope pulled me out. Going back tomorrow for rest only i aint backing all the way in at my friends. May have to wait several weeks before i can get back in there.
Bummer about getting stuck in the mud on a cold windy day like today. Nice load of black locust as a consolation prize though. The real mystery here is what's the deal with that interior door on the hill in the first picture? Is that like a portal to another dimension, or Planet Locust maybe?
Yes sir! Burning calories, that's the only way I can consistently loose weight, I have lost 25 lbs since I retired last May, mostly because I have been cutting and splitting a lot of firewood. Buying chainsaws, gas and oil is the cost of my gym membership.

buZZsaw BRAD I had much the same tires on a truck of mine years ago. I took the truck home to try it out for a couple of days and took a ride into the woods after some rain we got. Driving on the road up a slight incline, I realized the tires were spinning as they had lost traction. I bought the truck after I worked out a deal to get new tires at cost. Huge improvement!
The yard was frozen solid and firm. One area where water settles was frozen over but not enough. I had checked it earlier in the day and thought it was okay. Had to back in so i never got out and checked. If i had to deal woth med and traction problems a lot id get good tires. For now it the used tire store. $80 for a pair last time...installed and disposal of old ones.
Nothing worse than getting stuck after working your azz off on a full load of rounds! Glad you got out alright
Not to put myself in buZZsaw BRAD 's league, but I've been heating with wood since 1982. All scrounged, found, etc., I've never paid one penny for wood. So it is out there, just riding the back roads in your truck is usually good for three to four cords of tree trimming/storm damage a year. Letting your friends and co-workers know you want wood and will clean up any trees that fall nets a lot also. Good luck and happy hunting!
Pulled the final load today. Dead rounds Nuggets Limb wood. Found a piece of honey locust and a small hickory and took those Full load today which made five heaping loads for the score so 2.5 cords plus No way was i going way in back with this load. Unloaded in front yard PA The wood still there my friend is supposed to cut but hes not motivated. Im wondering if ill be back for the other wood. Silver, red and Norway maples and a red oak.
It was part of our agreement. He has worked on a couple of my saws and i told him id give him a hand with the wood he wanted. I staged some for him and all he has to do is cut an haul it out. He did come over one day and "worked" for a bit and left. Spent more time talking than working. The two homeowners have no way to contact me. Honestly i dont want whats left there
