Nice work Brad! Do you charge more when you sell wood depending on the species?

I normally do only half cords as the premium is a bit better than a full plus with only an F150 half ton i cant do a full cord in one trip. I did sell a full cord of dead barkless BL this year and got a good price for it. Still have two cord of the same. Guy called the other day for one but was too far for me to go even with a fee. Ill do free delivery up to ten miles, extra for up to 5 miles.
Next year ill a few cord of BL to sell both with and without bark. I sepearte out dead barkless. Its some hard stuff.
How goes your HL score? Has weather been in your favor? Cold and seasonable here now with a good wind chill over the weekend. Ground is frozen and dry...perfect IME. Some snow coming here late Tuesday so im gonna try and finish this score.

Wait....what? You didn't split on site??

    What a slacker.

Good haul, as usual. The BL just finds you. I put a 5in diameter piece in the stove last night with some red oak. Lots of big coals this morning, for easy reload/reheat.

    You do get after it.

I hope it's a bit warmer for you with getting the rest of it.

Thanks Mike! Seems like it just finds me sometimes. Funny for a wood i didnt know existed a few years ago.

Nah, i like the cold. Air is crisp and refreshing and the way i go at it, getting cold is not a problem. A little snow for tomorrow afternoon so would like to finish it up.

I think its cool when the ember is the shape of the log in the morning.
Do you open the door and let heat radiate?
Do you have a lot in the stacks? Ill have to take a ride up there and we'll find some for you.

There was a log shaped coal this morning. I busted it up an put 2 RO splits in that fired right up.

I don't have all that much BL. Just enough to say I have some. I know of a few areas here in town, where its growing. I have my eyes always looking.

Good thinking, since your ground isn’t frozen all winter. I’m always working around the mud.

Used to be mid December, but now its a crap shoot. If it freezes at all. I have to back into the yard to load and drive through another yard where the water table is high and the ground is squishy. Snow tomorrow afternoon so will pull another load before it does.

Hit the score late this morning. Four saw plan. 361, 028, 024, 201. Cut for three hours moving rounds, logs etc. Quite the tangled mess to work in on the hill too. Took my time and was very careful. Loaded PU and ran a load home. Had a delivery nearby otherwise wouldve been able to load a second time. 2/3 green, 1/3 dead IMG_3931.JPG IMG_3930.JPG
Plenty of rounds to load tomorrow. Debating on whether to keep cutting or load and run. Snow coming tomorrow afternoon. Not much but enough to hamper my hoarding efforts.

For the life of me i dont know why the neighbor has an outhouse in his backyard. I didnt check the base brenndatomu   IMG_3934.JPG
Stack of rounds getting bigger. Several in back not seen. IMG_3937.JPG
Mound of dead barkless BL getting bigger too. IMG_3935.JPG
BL splits waiting for stacking. IMG_3936.JPG

Yeah, and I can't help you...the base is cut off in that pic! :picard:

I was out on a project in a dumpy lil neighborhood in the "wrong" side of town this past summer...noticed a portapooper right off this guys porch (just about on the sidewalk!) and I'm thinking what the heck?!
A few days later I see a bunch of construction debris on the curb...bathroom remodel...I guess that's how you "git r dun" when you only have 1 bathroom!

I hope you loaded up what was cut, before cutting more. Be ahead of the snow. Then, cut as time allows.

Thought id get two out but didnt wanna rush. Plan tomorrow is to load PU first thing then buck more. Im getting closer to the big blowdown working left to right. Few logs in a good brush tangle next. Trying to help him too as thanks for the wood and score, but he doesnt have "locust mania".
Snow supposed to start in early afternoon.

Pulled another load before the snow today. Had enough bucked for 3/4 PU full. Cut some to fill the load. Brought it home, unloaded, came back and cut some while it snowed. Dulled one saw and threw a chain on the 201. Time to quit. IMG_3940.JPG IMG_3941.JPG

Brad, with all the wood you hoard have you ever thought of a hydraulic splitter to makes things quicker(and easier on the body?)

Sort of. My friend wants to go halves on one. I dont mind hand splitting but with the volume i hoard. Hand splitting is my main criteria for what i take. Heres my recent thread
