So I last ran a saw at the end of August and have been delivering wood for the past 3 months. The guy who blows out my sprinkler system told me a few weeks ago he was having some oak trees cut down and asked if I wanted the wood. Well duh, yeah of course I do. His house is halfway between my place and my moms where I process all of my wood. I went out today and with one helper, the truck load is what I took out in an hour. Have about 2 more truckloads like this which should total 4.5-5 cords.
For us mere mortals a score like that only needs to come around once in awhile. You on the other hand........ awesome.
Nice looking stuff and white oak to boot. Seems unusual to see you, dare i say, scrounging wood. Nice that its convenient too...cant beat that! What percentage of your average wood inventory do you scrounge/haul home yourself?
Very nice. Glad you got to run a saw today. I did today too, been mid September since I ran one. Good looking oak.
In the average year I would say 10%-20%. That includes the local farms which are all close and always easy. Last year I brought in roughly 15 cords from the blueberry and cranberry farm my brother works at.
Finished up today. Got two loads out in just under 2.5 hours with one helper. Ended up being 4-4.25 cords. Pick of load two today and then all of it in the field
Y'all load all that by hand? How big are the biggest oak rounds? Looks like back and hernia to me...of course, I'm getting soft in my old age...
