Yeah, it came and went. I’m thinking two more cutting sessions and 2 splitting. Cutting the logs that are in contact with the ground is kinda slow. I lift them with the tractor and stuff rounds under to elevate. Lot of on and off the tractor.
Are you able to roll the logs onto anything to get them off the ground ? I had good success rolling off the logpile, a few years ago.
Got this in the mail today asking for consent to remove/ prune trees near the power lines. This may be a big opportunity!
Lately I have seen trees along the road with tape on them I kinda figured something was in the works. I’m just not sure I want to give an open invite to drop anything. The form has a box to check if you want consultation with the contracted company before they start. Cant hurt to talk to the guy...
They're supposedly doing the same thing here this year in CT, although the only correspondence I've gotten from them was an email notifying me they were increasing their rates this summer. The following day they sent me another bill If my state goes through with their lawsuit against them (their poor response last year to tropical storm Isaias) I'm sure that burden will get pushed onto us (the customers) as well.
I was fairly surprised I got notification even more so that the contractor will do a consult. Eversource is the only option here they have no prob sticking it in your behind. But, They do a pretty good job of keeping things cut back since the ice storm in 2008. This is the first time they have given notice, I’m kinda concerned they want to cut trees that I would like to keep as a break from the only house I can see from my front porch.
Where I live out in the country, the electric coop has a legal right of way to maintain their lines. As a courtesy, I am notified when the crew will be in the area trimming back any tree branches that would cause problems. As a result of that approach, we have very few outages. I also do not have any neighbors living really close by.
We get a Eversource notice here as well, but they only trim the trees around the high tension lines on the top of the poles. Looks odd when they are done, the tops nicely pruned back and all the lines on the bottom with branches growing thru, around and on them. They came to remove all the problem trees a few years back but sent an arborist around first and marked all the trees slated for removal with a big blue X. After all their work of identifying which trees needed to go, informing home owners, sending out forms to homeowners requesting permission to do the work and an option to keep the wood the Town did not give them a permit to do the work. Our woke Town leaders can be spiteful and stupid sometimes. So now they have to keep coming back and pruning regrowth when it would have been more cost effective to just remove the problem trees. They really weren't planning on removing an excessive amount of foliage.
The town "leaders", probably have a family member working for the tree service. Multiple trimmings insure paychecks.
You want some cookies to go with that job you milked?!?! Just kidding, that was a huge undertaking. Looks good
Ha, yeah it took way longer than it should have. And I’m still not done… from the end of may till now I did not even think about playing with firewood other than burning in the fire pit.
I hear ya... I’ve got my own mountain of oak to deal with that’s turning into a year and a half ordeal. We can only do so much. Regular life and leisure has its place too.
Sure does, I know I have enough wood on site for at least 3 heating seasons. The I gotta get this done or is gonna be a long cold winter buying oil feeling is gone.
