Im curious if that will work. Hoarding as much of the stuff that i so ive come to notice the density difference when processing. Wondering if leaving it exposed to the elements would make a difference vs under cover. I like the term "petrified" to describe it too.
Finished a dead BL stack today and some of the barkless splits had been like that for several years. The wood was rock hard and would qualify for the "petrified" category. Usually it will have checks radiating inward.
