Thats not fully loaded yet! I see room in front and on top Dave! All kidding aside its perfect. Well done. Although id be packing the chit out of it with splits!
I put some more in after that pic...and I'm sure I'll stack something on top...that will cause me a delay, and extra work when I go to grab a rack out...its that whole issue of not being able to have a clean flat surface without anything piled on it!
I don't remember if I mentioned it before, those pallet walls are easily removeable...just slide to the right (see the gap between the pallet stringer and the 4x4? Circled in red...) and then the slats on the left will disengage from that 4x4 and it can be popped right out...all 3 are that way...only the back wall slides to the left.
Simply ingenious! My problem would be trying to disengage them with it stacked to the hilt with wood!
Dem guys called Dave is smart fellers! Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know. I left it wide open for responses to "smart fellers". Who's going to be first?
Yeah that would work! I rarely get much wood that is straight enough to make splits consistent enough to make a proper crib...and especially cribs that actually look proper!
Thanks guys! It was s fun little project! Working on one for my sister now too...not sure if I'll get it done this year yet or not...gonna give 'er heck tryin!
Thanks...the racks will be loaded already when I put them in with the forklift from the East end (the open end) which BTW is about 8" wider at that end to make it easier to take the racks in/out without tearing things up. I wanted the walls to be removable for better air flow during the summer (I always fill the racks from the main stacks in the spring) and to make the shed a little more "flexible" in its future potential usefulness...
As I was working on pre building the walls for my sisters shed yesterday, I was trying to add up in my head what I spent out of pocket for this shed...as far as I can remember, its right about $75...scrounging really pays off sometimes! Heck, the county will probably decide that this makes the whole thing (shed/carport) "permanent" and charge me more than $75 more per year in taxes!!
