Im looking at buying a chainsaw and im wondering if the Milwaukee 18V Cordless one is good for the money? i just need something bugger than out polesaw for stuff around the yard and im dads MS391 is a little large for most of the stuff i need one for
What about getting a Stihl 170 or 180? Low cost for a saw but could do so much more. Probably about the same weight as these are very light and easy to keep up.
i will eventually get a 261 but for now i wanna keep it electric, would cost a little more in the long run but lighter quieter and the Milwaukee stuff has more power than some Gas stuff ive used lol, if i buy a gas saw it will be a pro series of some sort for maintenance reasons and durability
I can't speak for the cordless but can tell you the 261 is a great saw! When I started looking for a small saw, a fellow who was almost ready to retire and had worked on saws most of his life guided me to the 180 even over a pro saw. I was surprised. Even more surprised when he told me that is the only saw he used any more for all his wood cutting. I finally bought one and like it a lot. Of course not up to the standards of a pro saw but for the dollars it is well worth the price.
My brother likes his Milwaukee saw...of course he likes the lil Stihl 170 too...seems like a bargain when they can be bought for $160-170 on sale too...
Ive used a lot of Milwaukee battery tools, but not the saw. They were all very powerful and good tools
we have the m12 drill and impact, m18 impact (1/4 inch stubby) drill, quiklok system with the weedeater and polesaw, sawzall, so far ive never been able to stall any of it out unless i try to on purpose! definitely heavy buy its all in the materials used best tools ive ever used
Ive had the Milwaukee m18 chainsaw for a little while, almost two years i think. As its been mentioned before, everyone that uses it really likes it. Ive bucked up several trees with it and it works pretty well. I used had gone through 2 12 amp hour batteries and put a 9.0 in and it freaked out. Grabbed my stihl ms250 and realized how slow the Milwaukee turned. The never needing to start is definitely a nice feature, little quieter too. Im curious on longevity, buy only time will tell. Keep a close eye for the sales. I bought mine with the saw, rapid charger and 2 12.0 batteries for 399. The 12.0 batteries are near 200 themselves. I feel like it was worth it, but i also dont mind spending money on tools, so I may be the wrong guy to offer opinions. I also have all the quik lok yard tools. They come in pretty handy as well, just watch for the sales.
I have the Dewalt 20v works very good just a little slow on the chain speed. I would lean towards whatever brand you have in your battery tools so you have all the same battery pack. The only reason I wound up with the chainsaw was it was "free" when I bought my string trimmer. I run all Dewalt tools so I have many batteries of all amp hours.
Try it Dave. If and only if I am wrong you will win nothing but an apology and kuddos from the crew. Butt first, try it. I have.
