Is it time for a damper?

    Lately I have been watching it until it was shut completely down. Tonight I watched it for about 5 minutes and thought it was good. That could have been part of the issue tonight as well. I may have been a little impatient.

    Won't cause the stove to run hot...if anything, a major leak might make it a little sluggish (loss of draft) you should be fine with it the way it is

    So this morning I loaded it up but was a little quicker with shutting the air down. When I left the air was shut down all the way with a STT of 600* and what I would call "ghost" secondary flames. There was a little bit of smoke from the stack but not much.

    Maybe I was too slow shutting down the air and got the secondary burn going too hot and was losing control. I will have to ask the wife what the thermometers are reading soon.

    If that is the case I just can't believe there is such a fine line between control and losing control of the heat.

    I also tried to "fluff" the gasket on the sides of the door this morning.
