A law such as the CT one is a nice gesture in prevention, but almost totally unenforceable.

PA dept of ag is encouraging landowners to cut/remove/burn the tree of heaven as it is the main host of the spotted lanternfly BUT if you drive along the local interstate you'll see hundreds growing on the right of way for miles.

Here in NY you can print a hauling permit from the DEC website fill it out as to where the wood is from and where it is going still no more than 50 miles and not over State lines. A few years ago a firewood supplier from VT was pulled over and ticketed for bringing firewood from VT to NY. The police had him unload the wood at a municipal facility then it was given to a family in need. I think that was wrong! IMO.

It’s like finding the pallets, the beams and dunnage that gets transported to states by train, don’t know if it’s been heat treated or not yet it’s moving for hundreds if not thousands of miles.

years ago a friend bought me one of those half whiskey barrel things to put my dog food in. Made in China.
When I went to use it I opened it up and there was sawdust in the bottom. Something was in the wood eating it.
Burned it. Cheap piece of junk anyway.
