    Greetings from Downunder

    Hi All,

    Stumbled across the site after seeing a hearth.com post.
    Being a banned pirate I thought I should support my fellow buccaneers by putting my hand up too.
    I understand the idea is to just agree with everything that is in the instruction manual and not try doing crazy stuff, but hey that is just not me.
    Yes it is great to pfaff on about how great your Harman is and to help the bloke who has a blinking light but I like to hear about new developments and argue the pros and cons of new ideas.

    Folks who remember me (even though my entire existence was completely wiped out. I thought that was pretty narrow minded; surely my ideas were of interest to someone, even if not why dump the lot?) will remember we develop multi-fuel stoves and modify yanky stoves to run better. This past season was surprisingly slow. Never mind.

    We are still processing our olive pits as a substitute to wood pellets and have just completed a dryer/destoner upgrade which lifts our capacity as we can now dry 60 ton batches instead of 3 ton at a time. You could see the videos of the old plant, but wait they are gone....

    We were going to invest in a new wood pellet mill with 20 of us putting in 50K each and the main guy 500K.
    Unfortunately the main guy went broke (before he got any of our money at least) which killed the project stone dead. Never mind.

    We are starting to get a bit of work with our Chinese buddies in the centre pivot business here. We sell em and then they send out engineers to help us build em. You can see a pic of one we finished a couple of weeks ago. 1650' long to water cotton in central NSW. 700 mile from Blowhard. Have another going up now in central Australia, 2,000 mile from here.

    Still working on stove stuff. We have a 30kW Zobo pellet heater/hot air blower. Works fine on pellets but is proving real tricky on pits. Doesn't like the higher ash level and struggles with the lighter fuel mass but we will keep playing with. Never had one beat me yet! this is it;

    Finally, we have made a small change to our stoves which had made a big difference. Before the exhaust fan was bolted directly onto the fan box lid. This meant that any fan or motor vibrations reverberated through the whole stove making noise. We have simply mounted the motor on silicone tattoo gun grommets. No more harmonic vibration, far less noise. A true Macguver solution!
    Would work on any similarly hard mounted exhaust motor. Here is a pic;

    Sorry to take up so much of your time. I will make it shorter next time.
    Cheers,
    Darron.

    I would think that the "Post New Thread" button under the "Pellet Accessories Ratings and Reviews" (on the main pellet page) might do the trick. However, not having started a new post on this forum before, I could be completely wrong.

    Just click on the particular forum header you want to post in, like "Pellet Stoves, Pellet Fireplaces, Pellet Furnaces", and the "post new thread" button is on the upper right of the page.

    People in Australia or New Zealand will have to turn their computers upside down to see it. :wacky:

    Thanks Guys,
    Looks like it is going to work.
    I might just try starting a thread on the 30kW zobo pellet heater to see what happens.
    Cheers,
    Darron.

    With our earlier non-lighting corn stoves we started by using a particular bbq bead. It was okay but then we started using paper pellet cat litter which is 10x better. We stopped using the beads immediately which means I have nearly a ton of the damm things left over. So I bought a kettle bbq and now I smoke chickens in it. Works great. They tell me that you can get away with using about half a bag per chook, I use two bags. That way it will only take me 3 lifetimes to get rid of all the beads.
    At least I am all set for a cheap backyard cremation.:thumbs:
